Frequently asked questions

Can palm trees survive the winter in upstate New York?

Not outdoors. These are tropical palms, so plan to enjoy them outside from late May through early fall. Many customers move a smaller palm (like a Roebelenii) into a bright room for winter. Others treat their palm like a long-lasting seasonal plant and get a fresh one each spring.

When can I get my palm?

Palm season in the Capital Region runs from about mid-May through summer. Reserve early, because the most popular sizes sell out. We'll contact you when your tree arrives.

Where do I pick up my palm?

At Concord Pools & Spas, 156 Sparrowbush Road, Latham, NY 12110. We'll confirm a pickup time with you. A 7-gallon palm fits in most cars, and 15 and 25-gallon palms usually need an SUV, a truck or delivery.

Do you deliver?

Yes. We deliver throughout Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Washington counties. It's one flat fee per order, no matter how many palms: $49, $69, $89, $119 depending on your zone. Order 10+ palms and delivery is free in Zones 1–2 and half price in Zones 3–4. Backyard placement is +$20. Orders with 26 or more 25-gallon palms need an extra truckload, which adds the zone delivery fee again. The order form shows your exact delivery fee.

How does the deposit work?

A 25% deposit (minimum $25) holds your palms. Full-Season Service and Event Rentals take a 50% deposit, with the balance due at delivery. After we confirm your order, we'll text or email you a secure invoice to pay it by card. The balance is due at pickup or delivery. Full refund if you cancel by March 31. After that, your deposit becomes credit good through the end of that season. If we can't get your palm, you get a full refund. Once your tree arrives, please pick it up or schedule delivery within 7 days.

What does "gallon" size mean?

It's the size of the pot the palm grows in. Bigger pots mean bigger, more mature trees: about 2–4 ft for a 7-gallon, 3.5–6 ft for a 15-gallon and 4.5–9 ft for a 25-gallon, depending on the variety.

Do you plant or care for the trees?

We don't plant palms in the ground. Our Full-Season Service includes delivery and placement in May, 2 summer check-ins and fall pickup. Each tree comes with simple care instructions, and they really are easy: sun, water when the top inch of soil is dry, and a pot that drains well.

How do I take care of my palm?

Put it in full sun or part shade. Water when the top inch of soil starts to dry, and make sure the pot drains so the roots never sit in standing water. Feed it with a palm fertilizer during summer.

Do you offer volume or business pricing?

Yes. Order 6–9 palms and save 10% on your whole order, or order 10 or more and save 15%. You can mix any varieties and sizes. It's great for lining a pool deck, a restaurant patio, a pool club, an event or a business entrance. Homeowners and businesses get the same discount.

How do I pay?

Nothing is charged on the website. After we confirm your order, we'll send a secure invoice for the 25% deposit (pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay). Pay the balance at pickup or delivery by card or cash.

What is Full-Season Service?

It's palms for the whole summer with none of the work, built for restaurants, hotels, pool clubs and venues. You buy the palms at our regular prices with the normal volume discounts (10% off 6–9 palms, 15% off 10 or more). Then a flat Season Service fee of $450 covers up to 8 palms, plus $40 for each palm after 8. That includes delivery and placement in May, 2 summer check-ins, and pickup in the fall when nights drop into the low 40s. Example: 4 large and 4 small palms come to $1,098 after the 10% discount, plus the $450 season fee, for $1,548 total. A 50% deposit ($774 in that example) reserves your season, and the balance is due at delivery. Rebook by March 31 and get $100 off next season's Season Service fee.

Can I rent palms for an event?

Yes. Small palms (7 gallon) are $35, medium palms (15 gallon) are $65 and large palms (25 gallon) are $95 per event, for up to 3 days. There's a 4-palm minimum. Delivery, setup and pickup cost your zone's normal delivery fee ($49–$119). They're perfect for weddings, graduation parties, corporate events and patio nights. A 50% deposit reserves your date, and the balance is due at delivery.

Where do your palms come from?

Our palms are grown on family farms in Florida and trucked up fresh each spring.

Do you take palms back in the fall?

Drop off last season's palm by October 31 and get a coupon for next May's truck: $10 off a 7-gallon, $20 off a 15-gallon or $25 off a 25-gallon palm. We compost every tree that comes back. Bring it to our Latham pickup spot. One coupon per palm returned. This coupon is for palm buyers. Full-Season Service customers instead get $100 off next season's Season Service fee when they rebook by March 31.
